Been out of touch for a few days. We left Lincoln City and camped at Pacific City then at a county park in Rockaway. yesterday we were going to Seaside, but got distracted in Cannon Beach so got a hotel (more like a bungalow) here. the place was so nice we decided to stay an extra day and beach comb....AND eat. We ate at a greasy spoon diner yesterday and Barb complained about her stomach all day. I kept telling here the big hill would work it out of her system, she just wouldn't buy it.
When the Eagle eats, everyone just kinda hangs around for left overs......not likely
After we left Lincoln City we were routed around Devils Lake. We were also routed through a "water over road" site, about 8 to 10 inches deep. So Barb had just taken off her toe covers as it was a sunny day....oh well, my shoes didn't get as wet, which is what really matters.... ;)
We were routed off the 101 onto the Old 101 Scenic road. so as Barb was yelling at me to enjoy the scenery I decided to snap some pics while on the move.....(she was yelling cuz I don't hear so good)
AND HERE COME THE AUSSIES!!!!!! We have been running into Bert and Jill since Patricks point. we keep thinking that they would be way ahead of us by now as they plan on going to Juneau before heading back south for Argentina, but here they are!!!!!!
And here I am trying to meet some one else that's new. this guy held the pose for such a long time thought he was stuffed
By the time we got to Pacific City it was kinda late and we had to make a store run, plus the private campground had and indoor pool plus a hot tub we had to take advantage of, so no more pics that day...
So we started climbing inland to Sand Lake....we are a couple hundred feet above the ocean right now. wonder how it got the name Sandlake?????
Then we kept climbing another few miles and now we are several hundred feet up. of course following this ascent, we just went down the other side, begging the question "whats the point???" of course the point being I didn't go to work today :)
and sunset pics
it was wet the next day so no early morning shots. this is the day Barb at the bad food for breakfast.....but as you can see she got a hold of the camera for flower shots...so what was I doing you might ask?????
Changing a SPOKE!!!! guess I can't complain, first one since before Crescent City. kinda take up a bit of the shoulder.
This is a distance shot of Nehalem....last time I saw this town it was a foot under water, about 10 years ago on Thanksgiving weekend
just a short few miles down the road, we were looking down from several hundred feet above the ocean
And there was the LAST tunnel on the trip, no bike lane,,,, just push a button and yellow lights flash above the entrance... I can see the couple now..."hey Deloris, I saw those lights, but didn't get what they were for...." Actually, we had great passage, no one come in our direction, it was down hill so took it at about 25 mph.
