We left off in half moon bay in a wind storm looking at whales less than 200 feet off shore. well the wind died down and I have a few pics of what we had to look at the next morning
for those of you non engineer types, oh well, you just have to live with the next few photos....really neato. this is the devils slide area. A cronic problem on rte 1. so they tunneled behind the slide mass. lotsa $$$$$
the bolders above the entrance are really concrete. zome in and comepare with boulders up above. probable weather over time and not be so obvious
Then it was on to Pacifica (donut shop stop), then Daly City.......BIG A$$$ Hills, trashed my quads for the nex two days. not to mention first time I had to walk my bike up a hill(s) over 20% grades....notice I said 1st time....dear old Bob gets heavier every day it seems.
And then......We Met up with my sister Peg. She flew into SF airport, put her bike together (they actually have stations in the airport with bike stands), hopped on and road to daly city. We met her on a cold drizzly corner in front of a taco Bell.
little wyas down the road we met up with Jacky again in front of the SF Zoo. for those that know Peg, see was able to communicate with the zoo animals from the highway!!!!!!
drizzle went away sun came out and what a beautiful day to cross the bridge....in case you didn't know there is this bridge going north from SF
What made this so special was that Barb had book this campground 8 miles west of Golden Gate with some hellacious hills. first hill on the road walked the last third. all these light weight road bikes with nothing but a rider passing us.... so back to what made it special.....met up with my friend Jim from college days. he and Jacky trucked us and our gear to the remote campsite. saw fox, deer, quail and other wildelife....not to mention there was a bridge in the distance with a big city behind it.
note the two old foggies, don't know where they came from...... had Thai food and as you can see, we washed it down with wine, beer and electrolytes...
