Beware, there are like 3 days in this post, don't be confused...of course I have been confused most of my life, so if it happens, just sit back and enjoy.

Well we had a great night, slept well, had our oats for breakfast and off we go.  only Jacky and Jim weren't there, so we had to ride over the hills widout them.  wasn't too bad, peg and I walked about a mile of it, but wow what a ride down...finally got to do a WheeHee ride with Peg...  Peg was scheduled to go to Crescent City with us and fly back.
Peg next to her tent

some kind of bird of prey....

Barb doing morning Tai Chi (please note bridge in background)

we had to climb out of this valley to get out of the park...hence the walking

my rig with Bob with Barb in the background with the outhouse......
OK OK one last bridge picuture (believe me I have more....  :)

on the road to Sausilito

hills on the way to Samuel Taylor state park

visitor at the park...way too friendly, too many people feeding

bit chilly, notice the frown  :)

Barb and her trip theme.

This was cool, this is some random British gal heading in the other dirction.  She started in Seattle and was going to at least SF.  her husband wasn't a cyclist, so he was flying to met her in SF.  We chatted across the road for a while, took pictures and "carried on"

on our way from Samuel Taylot to Bodega  Bay.  we were to go to Wrights beach, but didn't make it....had to stay in a hotel.  too many hot cold cycles for me...heavy sweat up hills, then cold rides down.  now know why they hand out newspaper on the Tour.  We met up with another guy from college days, Dan.  he drove us to a beautiful dinner and well we slept.

Peggy broke a spoke, seems like we had it replaced in less than half an hour, and had to take to rear gear cluster off.  getting better with that, and of course I had Peggy helping, she wants to know how.

There is tha damn frown again..

well defined bike lane inside of the fog line..

We found out later thiss was a glass house...note small diameter cylinder piles holding road up.

Then we climbed

and climbed (see two rows of tiebacks)

remember, when on a bike, share the road with logging trucks

heavy on coming traffic.

I don't have any pics of the next portion of the road.  very steep and winding with 25 mph winds.  since the road was winding sometimes the winds were sideways.  I wouldn't go over 8 mph, even if I could.  Barb and I were on heavily loaded mtn bikes with big tires,, Peg was on a lightweight road bike and was being blown around...actually mostly sideways.  no shoulders, deep drainage ditches, not much fun, especially for Peg.  We got to Fort Ross and it is an old fort state park, closed.... I told Peg the map said a convenience store was just up the road a few miles (hoping I wasn't lying).  Well it was, and that's where we met Angie, a wonderful host and full of options and information, not to mention great sandwiches and wine.
We came to the conclusion that our schedule through this area was too aggressive with full loads on, not to mention our morning putzing.   This wouldn't be so bad for Barb and I as our schedule is somewhat flexible, pegs wasn't.  So Peg offered to  take the bus back to Santa Rosa, get a car and help sag for us, riding when she could.

Fort  Ross store, a little bit of heaven, thanks to Angie

I seemed to have forgotten to mention there was lodging across the street from the store....terrible view.  we dined on cheese crackers and apples, such cuisine.  At least until the bats came into the club house.
